Hi, I'm Joao Henares, a student at the University of Notre Dame. I
major in Computer Science, and I have performed as a Teaching
Assistant for the Data Structures and Discrete Mathematics
classes. I have worked with several topics, including Neural
Networks, Full Stack development, Operating Systems and Networks.
I am currently working on projects about Neural Networks,
Databases and APIs. More importantly, I am building my own Open
Source project with an innovative mechanic.
I am personally interested in soccer, food and board games.

Projects
Full Stack Web Development
Created two websites.
In the first, about soccer, a Python back-end called a public
API and sent processed information through Flask to different
endpoints, resulting in an HTML / CSS / JS website.
In the second, about a restaurant, I allowed users to create
accounts and order food at the website. Users even got an
email upon order creation and completion.
A third website is currently in progress.
Neural Networks
Worked with two projects.
The first, already finished, trained on hand sign videos and
predicted the word for a certain hand sign the user did.
The second is in progress, and focuses on teaching a Neural
Network to play Doom.
Open Source Project
I am currently working with two other members on a new open source project. Check Project Octopus for more information.

- Creation of parts of an OS: terminal, file system, syscalls, threads.

Software Engineering Intern
Summer 2023
BTG Pactual - Sao Paulo, Brazil
- Restructuring parts of the Bank’s website
- Mainly worked with Golang for back-end revamp - substituting JavaScript code and creating new functions. Made users able to schedule recurrent Bank Slips.
- React for front-end visual and API interaction updates. Created a new page for the website: payments due.
- Worked with clean code and clean architecture.

- Worked with git both on GitHub and Azure.
Tech Team Intern
Summer 2022

- Automated different kinds of work previously performed by lawyers using Python scripts.
